Virtueel Platform

Contemporary culture-makers spy on the world through the window of the computer. By blogging, Googling and gaming they map new spaces, with an important role for the anarchy of images and text placed on YouTube, MySpace, Second Life and other communities and platforms for expression. Meanwhile, new forms of creativity are proliferating like wildfire. The Crossover has justified its existence!

Culture is searching for its bearings in an unknown territory. The new media aren’t new anymore, and the boundaries between artistic disciplines have effectively disappeared. Reality and virtuality are on equal footing; the public arena is limitless. What we’re currently seeing is that the traditional platforms are changing places. Museums, public television networks, newspapers, magazines and even familiar Internet sites are losing status, while other, more temporary means of creative expression get all the attention and acclaim.

What does this mean for art- and culture-makers/producers?

The Stifo@Sandberg Conference has in recent years developed into a day where renowned designers, media producers, artists and film-makers discuss and exchange new ideas and innovations in the area of media production.

What relationship should you as a maker/producer develop to the media? What does the move from organised context to organised networks mean for you? With whom will you work, and how?

The speakers at the conference are specialists to the new journalistics of blogging, theorists for economics and culture to government policy and artists that create new platforms for expression. The central topic for the lectures and discussions will be the increasing alliance of production and creation.
